Good morning everyone!
October has arrived, bringing with it the kickoff of the NHL season! After about seven years, it seems the San Jose Sharks might finally be emerging from their long, dark struggle.
It’s been since 2019 that the Sharks last made the playoffs, after a risky attempt that ultimately fell short. The team has bid farewell to long-time icons like Joe Thornton, Brent Burns, Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, Erik Karlsson, and Timo Meier. Over the past few seasons, the Sharks have struggled at the bottom of the standings, but now, with a revamped roster led by Hart Trophy hopeful Macklin Celebrini and promising talent Will Smith, there’s renewed optimism.
One of the key storylines is how young goaltender Yaroslav Askarov will perform in his second season, having been given the starting role last year. And let’s take a moment to appreciate the iconic “Shark Tank” entrance — arguably the coolest in professional hockey, where players skate in through a giant shark, with a backdrop of sharks swimming beneath. It creates an exhilarating, intense atmosphere that’s perfect for playoff hockey.
Personally, I believe this could be the year the Sharks finally return to the postseason. I’ve waited a long time to see meaningful games from this team again, and I’m eager to watch them compete at the highest level.
COYS (Sharks)!
Fan Take: The Sharks’ renewed energy and revamped lineup could signal an exciting turnaround for the franchise, reigniting the passion of long-time supporters and attracting new fans alike. This season might just be the fresh start Hockey fans have been waiting for.
