Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Let’s kick off the evening by revisiting the top three headlines from Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Insomnia
Nassourdine Imavov and Sean Strickland are stirring up some excitement ahead of their anticipated title bout. Perhaps this bit of promotional back-and-forth will help Strickland finally earn the pay raise he’s been aiming for.
I really admire Islam Makhachev—not just as a champion, but also for maintaining a vibrant life outside the cage. He’s often seen exploring the outdoors and engaging in unique activities!
Unless Alexander Volkanovski has seriously declined, he poses a tough challenge for Movsar Evloev—this looks like a brutal matchup.
Court McGee has always been the embodiment of professionalism and class in the sport. Wishing “The Crusher” all the best as he heads into retirement!
Is Shavkat Rakhmonov hinting at a rematch against the undefeated Michael Morales (19-0)? If so, I’m instantly intrigued—and a bit nervous as a “Nomad” fan.
Not every exceptional offensive wrestler can defend well against takedowns in MMA, but Shaydullaev showcased some very slick defense here.
There’s truly no one quite like Carlos Prates.
Slips, Rips, and KO Clips
Joshua Van’s technique that put Alexandre Pantoja in serious trouble was absolutely wild to witness.
Delivering powerful kicks into the opponent’s open side is usually a solid strategy—however, overcommitting can leave you vulnerable to a counterpunch, as we saw here.
A flattened-out back mount position is probably the closest thing MMA has to a “checkmate.”
Random Land
War and conflict have always been horrifying, but recent events feel especially terrifying.
