LIV Golf may finally be done for.
BC Partners dropped its plan to fund LIV Golf in 2027 and help the league transition into “LIV 2.0,” the Financial Times reported on Wednesday afternoon. LIV Golf will now reportedly seek a liquidation of its remaining assets, likely signaling the end for the venture that once caused so much tumult in the golf world.

The firm had previously committed to investing as much as $300 million into LIV Golf, something the league needed to survive in 2027 after it lost the backing of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. But that was done with several conditions, including retaining enough player support to keep the league afloat next season. Several major names, including Jon Rahm, have either already left LIV Golf or have announced plans to do so.
The PIF had reportedly invested more than $5 billion to launch LIV Golf, but it opted to pull out in April. That led to a very chaotic season for the startup venture as it tried to find financial backing for 2027.
With BC Partners now reportedly out, and the league now eyeing liquidation, it’s unclear if “LIV 2.0” ever makes it to the course.
