Spendthrift Farm has revealed that Local Knowledge, a Grade 2 victor and son of the promising young stallion Yaupon, will be joining its breeding lineup for the 2027 season.
Known for his outstanding speed as a sprinter, Local Knowledge quickly gained recognition as a rising star after an impressive debut win against Commandment at Keeneland during his 2-year-old season. He continued to impress with a dominant performance in the Grade 2 Amsterdam Stakes at Saratoga, where he earned a notable 103 Beyer Speed Figure.
Local Knowledge is sired by Yaupon, a Grade 1-winning sprinter owned by Spendthrift Farm, who has rapidly established himself as a leading young sire. Local Knowledge adds to Yaupon’s growing list of successful progeny, bringing a blend of natural speed, graded stakes success, and a strong emerging sire line—making him an appealing option for breeders.
Ned Toffey, Spendthrift Farm’s General Manager and COO, expressed enthusiasm about adding Local Knowledge to their stallion roster. He highlighted that Local Knowledge’s physical attributes, speed, pedigree, and athleticism align well with breeder expectations, positioning him as a highly promising stallion prospect.
Local Knowledge will stand his first breeding season at Spendthrift Farm with a stud fee of $12,500 S&N, and limited “Share the Upside” opportunities will be available.
