Multiple graded stakes-winning miler Bishops Bay, a son of the renowned sire Uncle Mo, has officially retired and will join Taylor Made Stallions for the 2027 breeding season, the farm announced today. His stud fee will be set at $12,500 S&N.
Travis White, CEO of Taylor Made Stallions, commented, “He’s an impressive son of Uncle Mo, who has proven himself as a sire of sires. Bishops Bay possesses exceptional speed and stamina over a mile—traits we highly value in a stallion.”
Bishops Bay stands out for posting more triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures than any other son of Uncle Mo currently at stud, including ratings of 107, 106, 104, 103, and 100, and he holds the fastest figure on dirt. His specialty was the mile distance, where he won five of seven starts in graded stakes races. A highlight of his career came in 2025, when he clocked 1:34.62 to capture the $500,000 Grade 2 Cigar Mile, earning a career-best 107 Beyer Speed Figure.
From the beginning, Bishops Bay displayed impressive speed, winning his career debut as a three-year-old sprinting six furlongs at Fair Grounds with a 97 Beyer, defeating future multiple graded stakes winner First Mission. In just his third start, he narrowly missed first place by a head against champion 3-year-old Arcangelo in the Grade 3 Peter Pan Stakes over 1 1/8 miles.
With a record of finishing first or second in 16 of 18 starts and 11 wins, Bishops Bay earned $2,875,080, making him the second-highest earning son of Uncle Mo behind leading sire Nyquist. KAS Stables purchased him for $1.3 million at the 2025 Keeneland November Horses of Racing Age Sale.
Bishops Bay is by Uncle Mo, who sired stars like Nyquist, leading first-crop sire Golden Pal, and top second-crop sire Yaupon. He hails from a strong female family of graded stakes winners and producers. His dam is Catch My Drift, a stakes-winning and Grade 1-placed daughter of Pioneerof the Nile, making him a half-brother to G2 Louisiana Derby winner Catching Freedom, who placed third in the 2024 Preakness Stakes. Additionally, Bishops Bay’s full sister fetched $1.5 million at the recent Keeneland September Sale.
He is now available for visits during the remainder of the Keeneland November Sale.
