Aston Villa is set to sign a new striker this summer. In particular, Ollie Watkins faces an uncertain future at Villa Park. And their latest targets have just emerged.
Unai Emery is keen to add a new number 9 to his team and can arrive regardless of whether Watkins leaves or not. Jhon Duran will need to be replaced following his move to Al-Nassr in January. Aston Villa has therefore been focusing on the striker market for the past few months.
And market opportunities may be trying to present it to Aston Villa.
Unai Emery pushes Aston Villa to sign Nicholas Jackson
As Football Insider reported, Aston Villa is interested in signing Chelsea’s Nicholas Jackson, and preliminary moves have already been made to measure the availability of Senegalese strikers. Emery is a huge fan and he considers him to be an excellent option to add to his team after the 2025-26 season.
Chelsea have already signed Liam Dellup this summer, with another striker option from Joa Pedro scheduled to be signed this week. So, if an accepted offer arrives during the transfer window, Jackson is ready to allow him to leave.
It is important to remember that Emery previously worked with Jackson at La Liga Side Villarreal. So it’s probably not surprising that he’s eager to meet up at Villa Park. And certainly there’s a range to do business with.
Jackson has sometimes suffered from the weight of expectations at Chelsea, and the move he is not in the spotlight as he is ideal for progressing his career. And given Emery’s track record of improving players, it’s easy for him to move to the Midlands.
