PBM Ducati has announced a replacement rider for Glenn Irwin. Scott Redding made a surprising return to the British Superbike Championship at Knock Hill this weekend.

Irwin suffered a serious crash at Snetterton, which required surgery on his pelvis, sidelining him for the foreseeable future. Despite rumors linking Tarran Mackenzie to the team, PBM Ducati confirmed they opted for a familiar and exciting rider as Irwin’s stand-in.

Redding, who was the 2019 BSB Champion, has officially been named as the replacement. He clinched the BSB title in his debut season with PBM, narrowly beating teammate Josh Brookes. Having won previously at Knock Hill, Redding will be back on track this weekend.

Beyond BSB, Redding brings experience from MotoGP, Moto2, and most recently the World Superbike Championship. He expressed enthusiasm about rejoining the team, recalling the positive memories from his 2019 title win and aiming to perform at his best while wishing Irwin a speedy recovery.

Irwin also wished Redding well, praising him as a great rider and teammate. Jordan Bird, co-team owner, welcomed Redding’s return, highlighting his invaluable experience and optimism for the upcoming season, encouraging Scottish fans to warmly support Redding’s comeback.

Fan Take: This move excites racing fans as it brings a seasoned and talented rider back into BSB, potentially shaking up the competition. Redding’s presence could inspire intense battles on track and keep the championship thrilling during Irwin’s absence.
