During a busy week in boxing, there were minimal changes in the rankings across various weight classes.

The biggest highlight was Floyd “Kid Austin” Scofield’s rise in the lightweight division after defeating Jose Pedraza, a fighter he had dominated in past showdowns. Scofield now ranks ninth, while Pedraza has been dropped from the rankings. Meanwhile, Jake Paul secured rankings from the WBA and WBC after defeating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but his cruiserweight top 10 status remains questionable. Gilbert “Zurdo” Ramirez reclaimed his second spot in cruiserweight after beating Uniel Dorticos and defending his unified title. Raul Curiel also climbed to 10th place in the welterweight ranks following a win over Victor Ezequel Rodriguez in a WBA title eliminator.

The heavyweight roster saw Deontay Wilder earn his first win since 2022 by stopping journeyman Tyrrell Herndon in the seventh round, although this victory was not enough for him to break back into the top 10. Christian Mbili sharpened his hold on the second spot in the super middleweight division by quickly defeating Masiedi Threkki.

ESPN’s rankings reflect the sport’s best talent in every weight class and adjust according to recent performance and fight outcomes. Boxers moving weight classes are ranked in their new categories only after competing there, and those holding titles in two classes are ranked in both. Fighters inactive for over a year or testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs are removed from rankings until they return to action.

These rankings underscore the evolving landscape of boxing, showcasing emerging talents and the resilience of seasoned fighters. For fans, these shifts not only highlight exciting upcoming matchups but also reveal the sport’s dynamic and competitive nature, promising thrilling moments ahead.
