The Florida Panthers have strengthened their goaltending roster. They announced the signing of goaltender Brandon Bushisi to a one-year two-way contract for the 2025-26 season.

The 27-year-old Bushisi has spent the last four seasons within the Boston Bruins organization, playing in the AHL. This past season, he appeared in 33 games for the Providence Bruins, posting a 15-14-3 record, a .907 save percentage, and a 2.77 goals-against average. It was another solid showing for Bushisi in the AHL, and now he looks to continue his development with the Panthers.

Bushisi is expected to serve as the starting goalie for the Charlotte Checkers, the Panthers’ AHL affiliate. He has consistently maintained a .907 save percentage over his four AHL seasons, including an impressive .924 save percentage in 32 games during the 2022-23 season with Providence.

Overall, this move adds low-risk depth for the Panthers. Bushisi’s career AHL stats include a 31-12-8 record, a .915 save percentage, and a 2.62 goals-against average. At the very least, he should provide solid goaltending for the Checkers.

Fan Take: This signing is an important step for the Panthers in developing future talent and securing depth at a crucial position. For hockey fans, it signals the ongoing commitment of NHL teams to nurturing promising players in the AHL, which strengthens the overall competitive landscape of the sport.
