Tyson Fury Declares He’ll Come Out of Retirement Only for a Fair Trilogy Clash with Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury is reluctant to return to the boxing ring unless he can address what he sees as errors from his previous matches. He maintains that he is still retired and has only hinted that the trilogy fight against Oleksandr Usyk might tempt him back, but only under certain conditions. Fury and Usyk faced off twice last year, with Usyk winning both fights by decision and securing the undisputed heavyweight championship. Their second bout was more definitive, with Usyk winning by unanimous decision, though controversy remains as a Saudi judge’s scoring was questioned. Fury expressed to Sky Sports that if he does make a comeback, it would be to face Usyk again, but in the UK for a fair result. He insists he wants a just fight and outcome, believing he won the second fight decisively after reviewing it multiple times.

Despite Fury’s repeated retirements, boxing fans remain hopeful as he claims Usyk is the only opponent who could draw him back to the sport, although many also speculate that a showdown with Anthony Joshua could be equally motivating. Promoter Eddie Hearn, supporting this view, has proposed a two-fight series between Fury and Joshua, suggesting such a rivalry could revive Joshua’s career.

Fan Take: This news is significant for fight fans because Fury’s return could finally settle heavyweight debates and elevate the sport’s excitement. A potential trilogy with Usyk or a series with Joshua promises some of the most thrilling matchups in recent boxing history, keeping the heavyweight division dynamic and competitive.
