Daniel Dubois Sets Sights on Oleksandr Usyk, Puts Tyson Fury Return on Hold

Daniel Dubois has stated that his priority remains defeating Oleksandr Usyk rather than calling out Tyson Fury for a fight. Dubois is set to face Usyk in London on July 19th, while Fury announced on Thursday that he plans to have a third match with Usyk at Wembley Stadium in London in April 2026. Fury’s announcement about returning from retirement next year was revealed on Instagram following a statement from Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Bureau and Ring Magazine owner.

Fury had previously retired in January, but Dubois emphasized that if Fury wants another chance to become the undisputed champion next year, he would have to go through him, not Usyk. Dubois said, “I haven’t read much, but if he returns, he’ll be fighting me.” He added that Fury’s comeback is significant news for the heavyweight division and called it great that Fury is returning.

On Wednesday, Fury told the media he would “turn off DuBois’ ears” if they fought. Fury said, “Hypothetically, if I come back and face Daniel Dubois, it would be a one-sided beatdown. I wish him luck in his fight against Usyk.” When asked about a potential fight with Fury, Dubois told ESPN, “He’s going down, but I’m focused on my current path. I’m staying in my lane and committed to my work.”

Dubois believes the story around these fights is exciting and important for boxing, but emphasized, “We have one mission at a time.” He confidently added, “Anyone who wants it can have it. I plan to cut through them like a hot knife through butter.”

The rivalry dynamics between Dubois, Usyk, and Fury promise to elevate the sport and keep the heavyweight division buzzing with intense competition.
