The Pittsburgh Steelers have secured a new three-year contract with general manager Omar Khan, extending his tenure through the 2028 season.

“Omar and his team have excelled in building competitive rosters over the last three years through the NFL Draft, savvy trades, and free agency, and we are excited to keep this momentum going,” said the Steelers organization.

Khan, aged 48, took over as the Steelers’ general manager in 2022, succeeding Kevin Colbert, who resigned after 12 years with the team. This marks Khan’s 25th season with the franchise.

During Khan’s three seasons as GM, the Steelers posted a 29-22 record and made playoff appearances in the last two years, though they were both eliminated in the wildcard round.

“I want to express my gratitude to Art Rooney II for his unwavering support,” Khan said in a statement. “We’ve built a championship-caliber roster and look beyond the 2025 season. Our aim is to bring another Super Bowl title to Pittsburgh and its passionate fans.”

Since becoming GM, Khan has been active in free agency, notably securing major players like wide receiver DK Metcalf and cornerback Jalen Ramsey. This year, key signings include quarterback Aaron Rodgers and cornerback Darius Slay.

Additionally, the Steelers hold 12 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft, which will be held in Pittsburgh.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also recently signed a three-year contract extension, keeping him with the team through the 2027 season.

Fan Take: This extension highlights the Steelers’ commitment to building a strong, competitive team that can challenge for championships in the coming years. For NFL fans, it signals an exciting era where Pittsburgh could once again become a dominant force, elevating the level of competition in the league.
