The PGA Tour will appear on TPC Deer Run for the 2025 John Deere Classic on the weekend of July 4th. The friendly range in northern Illinois offers another first-time winner a chance as the field is relatively light to star power.
After seeing the likes of Patrick Cantray and Morikawa’s Colin attempt to strengthen their positions in the Ryder Cup last week, most of the world’s top-ranked players have taken a week of consecutive breaks from Scotland’s Open Championships in Europe. When 20-year-old Aldrich Poggia notched his first victory in Detroit last week, some fresh faces were able to open the door for breaking through.
This week’s Podge Lator is one of the headliners as longtime South Africans seem to be surprised at winning back-to-back events. Most notable names on the field include Jason Day, Ricky Fowler, Max Homa, Siui Kim, Sanjame and Ben Griffin. So Griffin (14-1) is a betting favorite, followed by each Caesars Sportsbook, followed by Day (22-1) and Denny McCarthy (25-1), which look like a wide open tournament on paper.
The scoring would be similar to what we saw in Detroit last week, as TPC Dear Run traditionally poses a low score and a threat of 59. Here’s how you can see players chase low scores in Illinois this Independence Day weekend:
