Max Muncie, the Los Angeles ‘ third baseman, has been sidelined due to a bone bruise in his left knee and is expected to be out for approximately six weeks. An MRI revealed no structural damage, which was a relief for Muncie despite the lengthy recovery ahead.

The injury occurred during a game against the Chicago White Sox, when Muncie collided with center fielder Michael A. Taylor while attempting to tag him out. Muncie left the game after six innings, unable to put weight on his left leg, and required assistance off the field. Meanwhile, Taylor, who was bruised from the collision, left the game but cleared concussion protocol.

manager Dave Roberts expressed relief over Muncie’s test results and avoided watching any replays of the incident. Miguel Rojas took Muncie’s place for the series finale, with Kike Hernandez slated to play third base in the upcoming game against Houston. Additionally, utility player Tommy Edman has begun preparing to return.

Muncie’s injury happened just before pitcher Clayton Kershaw recorded his 3,000th career strikeout. Reflecting on the incident, Muncie admitted his disappointment at missing the historic moment. This season, he has batted .250 with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs in 81 games.

To fill the roster gap, the called up Estery Lewis from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Lewis has been performing well, hitting .292 with eight home runs, 37 RBIs, and 38 stolen bases in 66 games. He was acquired from the Athletics in April and is expected to play this weekend.

Fan Take: This injury is a tough setback for the but also a chance for emerging players like Estery Lewis to shine. Baseball fans should watch how the team adapts, which could influence the ‘ playoff push and showcase the depth of talent in the sport.
