Wimbledon 2025: Emma Radukanu collapses on Arina Sabalenka in a lively display

Emma Radukanu gave a brave performance despite falling to a loss against Alina Sabalenka on Friday with a 7-6 (6) 6-4 third round loss.

Wimbledon fans are no strangers to the Floodlight blockbuster, featuring British home favorites. Andy Murray offers plenty of late-night thrills under the roof of the centre court that was closed during his amazing career.

It was Radkanu’s turn to provide all the drama as she surged to a 4-2 lead on the first set and rose again 4-1 on the second.

The 22-year-old continued to speculate on his Belarusian opponent with breathtaking shot-making, getting a break in the fifth game, roaing all the Radkanu winners and delighting a strong crowd of 15,000 who cheered on all Sabalenkaera.

Sabalenka, the only survivor of the top six female species, regained a break, but she missed the seven sets and scored points 5-4 on a serve from Ladukanu, with Britton coming out of trouble.

In the eighth, in a tiebreaker, Sabalenka finally silenced the crowd when he produced a stop volley to put the set in the bag.

After spending a long time in the tennis wilderness following a notable victory at the US Open as a qualifier in 2021, Radokanu wanted to prove that she has returned to her best by beating 2023 Wimbledon champion Markervon Dorsova over Sabalenka.

As she surged to a 4-1 lead in the second, one point away from taking a 5-1 lead, she looked like she might pull off one of the most unlikely victories against her opponents who fought in the final three Grand Slam Finals.

However, it was not intended to erase Raduka’s hopes of winning the final five games and reaching the third round of Radukanu’s fourth round, and netting a service return at match points.
