Patrick Reed finally wins in the playoffs with Birdie in Liv Golf

CARROLTON, Texas — Patrick Reed lost his lead in 3 over 75 before making a 15-foot birdie putt on the first hole for four players on playoff Sunday to win his first title since joining the Saudi-funded league in 2022.

Starting the final round with a three-shot lead, Reid fell a day late at Marido Golf Club, and after Kozma made a bogey on the 18th hole, he then got a par on the final hole on No. 68.

That led him to playoffs with Reid, Louis Ostuzen (68) and Paul Casey (72).

With the first extra hole, Ostuzen was rushed into the water, and Casey took a four-shot to reach green on the par 4 on the 18th. Kozma missed a 25-foot birdie try and set the stage for the lead.

Reed said getting his first victory in his hometown of Texas is a relief. He won the Hong Kong Open last year on the Asia Tour, but went 0 with 41 at Liv Golf.

“To get my first victory here, that means a lot to me,” Reed said. “I tried to ruin it. After making my birdie first, it seemed like I kept all the putts short.”

Bryson DeDanbaugh birthed his final hole just because he knocked John Larm out of the top 10 for the first time at Liv Golf.

Sergio Garcia was by no means a factor, but he finished fifth in points and won the only spot in the UK Open for the top five live golfers in the positions that are not eligible for Royal Portrush.
