  • Man United and Tottenham Monitor Koni de Winter
  • Premier League clubs have an edge over other clubs

Koni de Winter is quickly appearing as one of Europe’s most coveted young defenders. The 23-year-old Belgian centre-back has been attracting widespread attention following a memorable season for Genoa.

The Belgian, who played for Genoa 26 times last season, has adapted impressively to the demands of Serie A and is confident in delivering performances against some of the league’s toughest attackers.

Interest from the Premier League is escalating, with both Manchester United and Tottenham actively monitoring De Winter’s progress.

Under Reuben Amorim, the unified defense has suffered from injuries and contradictions, and the Portuguese manager has identified the Serie A defender as one of his transfer targets this summer.

Tottenham also looks at De Winter as there is an uncertain future for Christian Romero at the club. The World Cup winning defender has been linked to his move to Atletico Madrid this summer.

But West Ham United are ready to move decisively. The Hammer considers winter to be the perfect tactical fit for Graham Potter’s system.

The Wolves have also been following the Belgians for months, impressed by his consistent development in the Italian league.

Interest is not limited to the UK. Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are both enthusiastic about De Winter, and his profile suits the German giant’s preference for young, tactically adaptable defenders.

Serie A clubs, including Inter Milan, Naples and Rome, are also keeping tabs in the winter, but growing international demand may require them to act quickly to avoid being stolen from the price of the race.

Genoa has set a valuation of between 3,000 and 35 million euros for De Winter.

Premier League clubs with financial muscles are considered favorites for this rating, and could give them the edge of what’s growing into a competitive summer chase.

De Winter’s next move is extremely important, with Belgian defenders prioritizing clubs that can continue to develop while playing regular top-level football.

As it stands, both Man United and Tottenham are most likely to sign Belgian stars, but the high interest in the defender’s services can create a transfer battle between some of Europe’s top clubs.
