The 2025 MLB Home Run Derby is set for next Monday at Truist Park in Atlanta. Like past events, expect to see numerous towering home runs that reach deep into the bleachers, often exiting the ballpark entirely.
While smashing long home runs during the derby is impressive, it differs from hitting a massive shot in a live game. Since the Statcast Era began in 2015, there have been 12 instances where players launched home runs of at least 495 feet.
Fox Sports Research compiled a list ranking the 10 longest home runs of the Statcast Era. Let’s dive into these remarkable moments!
Among the longest is Aaron Judge’s 495-foot home run in 2017, during his rookie season when he hit 52 homers. On his 20th of the season, he crushed an 85 mph off-speed pitch deep into the left-center field bleachers at Yankee Stadium.
Tied for eighth place is Joey Gallo’s 495-foot blast against Cleveland in 2018, embodying his all-or-nothing hitting style. That year he crushed a pitch from closer Cody Allen for a notable home run with the Texas Rangers.
Ronald Acuña Jr. also launched a 495-foot homer in 2020 against the Red Sox, sending the ball well beyond the bleachers at Truist Park. This incredible hit took place without fans in attendance due to the pandemic.
Miguel Sanó is another player tied for eighth with a 495-foot shot off the Red Sox in 2021, sending the ball out from Fenway Park’s left-center field over Lansdowne Street.
Ryan McMahon hit a sizeable long home run for the Colorado Rockies in 2022 during a win over the Cardinals, showcasing power in Coors Field.
Aaron Judge appears again tied for fifth with a 496-foot home run against the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017, smoking a pitch from then-teammate Marcus Stroman deep into the left field bleachers.
Miguel Sanó also holds a career-long 496-foot homer against the Chicago White Sox in 2019, one of his two appearances on this elite list.
Jesus Sánchez hit a 496-foot homer at Coors Field in 2022, landing on the stadium’s third deck, marking one of its longest home runs.
Christian Yelich’s homer is the third longest at Coors Field during this era, arriving on the same deck as Sánchez just months later.
Giancarlo Stanton holds the record for the longest home run at Coors Field during the Statcast era, with a 504-foot blast in 2016 while with the Marlins, marking his first 500-foot homer. CJ Cron also hit a 504-foot home run at Coors Field, nearly hitting a car beyond the left-field foul line.
Finally, the longest home run in the Statcast Era belongs to Nomar Mazara, who crushed a 505-foot home run against the White Sox in 2019 at Globe Life Park, the former home of the Texas Rangers.
Fan Take: This list shows the incredible power and skill of today’s MLB sluggers, providing fans with thrilling moments that define the modern game. These prodigious home runs push the limits of athletic ability and create unforgettable experiences that continue to excite and grow baseball’s fanbase worldwide.
