Sunderland is interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Sam John Stone during the summer transfer period.

According to Alan Nixon, the newly promoted club is looking to improve their teams, identifying experienced goalkeepers as targets. Johnston struggles with regular game time with the Wolves and he needs to play more often.

He spent most of his time on the bench with the wolves since joining them on a fee of around £10 million. He tries to get his career back on track with regular football and joins Sunderland might be ideal for him. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

The goalkeeper is also linked to Leeds.

Sunderland has secured promotion to the Premier League. They try to establish themselves as a patron of the top flight. You need players with quality and experience to get along well in the Premier League next season. Johnston has shown his quality in the Premier League in the past, and there is no doubt that he will be able to establish himself as a key player in Sunderland.

He could be used in a reasonable amount due to his situation at the West Midlands Club. It is still unclear how things will unfold in the coming weeks. Sunderland is interested in the players, but they haven’t followed it with his official proposal yet. It will be interesting to see if they will come forward with an offer to get the deal done.

Wolves should ask to remove any performance degradation

Meanwhile, Wolves will try to improve their team even during the summer transfer period. Ideally, it’s best to sell some of those who are not performing. It may help them bring in funding for the necessary additions.

The move could be ideal for all parties, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to get a deal across the line.
