Brandon Moreno Embraces Epic UFC Trilogy Showdown with the Only Fighter to Ever Beat Him

This year’s Noche UFC event may not have the same high profile as previous editions, but it still promises some thrilling matchups. Originally planned as UFC 320 at Arena Guadalajara, the event was relocated due to venue problems and will now take place in San Antonio, Texas, on September 13th, headlined by a featherweight bout between Diego Lopez and Giansilva.

Notably, Brandon Moreno, a top contender who has yet to compete in a Noche UFC event, remains a key story. After campaigning for a title shot that appeared unlikely, Moreno instead received a challenge from his former adversary, Brandon Royval. Moreno, who holds significant wins over Amir Albazi and Steve Elsegg, is eager for another chance to reclaim the flyweight title following a tough loss to current champ Alexandre Pantoja. Despite the setback, Moreno is inching closer to making a compelling case for a title rematch, especially with his recent three-fight winning streak against elite division opponents.

Royval has publicly expressed interest in settling their rivalry with a trilogy fight, as their previous encounters have seen both fighters emerge victorious. Moreno, after a brief break, seems motivated to face his old rival once again. The most recent clash with Pantoja ended in another loss for Moreno at UFC 290, confirming Pantoja’s dominance, but Moreno remains determined to reclaim his position.

Returning in February after his split decision loss to Royval, Moreno is showing signs of resurgence as anticipation builds around a potential trilogy bout. This matchup promises to captivate fans and could play a significant role in shaping the flyweight division moving forward.

Fan Take: For fight fans, this news is significant because it highlights the intense competition and personal rivalries that keep the flyweight division compelling. A Moreno-Royval trilogy would not only deliver exciting action but also potentially define the next chapter of one of UFC’s most dynamic weight classes.
