FIA President Mohammed Ben Slayem says he feels presidential candidate Tim Mayer, and that he is being separated from the governing body to describe his first term as “regulation of terror.”
Mayer launched his campaign last week They are trying to stand up to Ben Sulaim in the December election ahead of the British Grand Prix. In response to these comments, Ben Sleim says that Mayer is only aware of certain aspects of the atmosphere within the governing body.
“I just laughed,” Ben Slayem told Reuters. “I actually had a smile. Anyone who says this, they’re disconnected from the FIA. Honestly, you go to the FIA, sit with them, say it’s between you and them, ask the question. I think he’s confusing the period.”
Ben Slayem also said he believes there is support from many member clubs and told reporters’ organizations that it is their vote that matters.
“I feel like people (who) are saying. They’re disconnected from the FIA. He (Mayer) works as a steward. Steward doesn’t mean you’re an insider in the FIA.
“I have other things to do. I’m really busy. I’m not going to fall into this campaigning way where I answer anyone. He’s free to say whatever he wants.
“But the FIA is bigger than me and bigger than anyone. It’s not about the media. One is very clear: the members who vote. No one votes. They either decide they want me, or they need Y, Z.
“Let’s wait for the general meeting and see if they’ll drive me out. They have the power to drive me out. It’s about the members. And when I see them smiling.
