This week’s NBA Summer League has kicked off, bringing the league’s up-and-coming talent to the court for intense summer competition and sparking betting interest. As the 11-day tournament unfolds, fans and bettors are eager to see which team will claim the championship and who will earn the MVP honors, with DraftKings Sportsbook providing the latest odds as of July 8th.

For the NBA Summer League Champion 2025, the Utah Jazz lead the betting odds at +700, followed by the Philadelphia 76ers at +900 and the Minnesota Timberwolves at +1000. Other notable teams include the Toronto Raptors, Oklahoma City Thunder, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers, all tied at +1400, while teams like the Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards also hold competitive odds.

Utah’s roster features promising players like Ace Bailey, Isaiah Collier, Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Filipowski, Cody Williams, and Blythe Sensabaugh. The Jazz have started strong with a 2-0 record, defeating both the 76ers and Grizzlies in the Salt Lake City Summer League.

As for the NBA Summer League MVP race, Reed Sheppard of the Rockets is the favorite at +1200, followed by Nicola Topic of Oklahoma City at +1400. Other contenders include GG Jackson (Grizzlies), VJ Edgecombe (76ers), Matas Buselis (Bulls), Brice Sensabaugh (Jazz), and Justin Edwards (76ers) with odds ranging from +1500 to +2000. Lakers’ Dalton Knecht and Cooper Flag from the Mavericks are also in the mix, along with Kon Knueppel of the Hornets and Bronnie James of the Lakers, who rounds out the group at longer odds of +4000.

Bronnie James, who juggled time between the South Bay Lakers and Los Angeles Lakers during his rookie season, averaged only 2.3 points but is noted for needing to improve defensively to secure a place in the Lakers’ rotation. Paul Pierce emphasized the importance of Bronnie developing his defensive game this summer to boost his chances of making the lineup.

Summer League fans are also closely watching a 6-foot-9 Duke forward, the likely No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft and a hopeful key player for Dallas next season. Chris Brussard praised the rookie’s all-around skills and basketball IQ, suggesting a promising future ahead.

Fan Take: This NBA Summer League update is crucial for basketball fans because it highlights the emerging talents who could shape the future of the league. Watching these young players develop and compete not only sparks excitement but also offers insights into how the NBA’s next generation might evolve the game.
