So far, this summer has been pretty frustrating for Tottenham Hotspur.

As things stood, the only signatures the club had made were Kota Takai and Mathys Tel, which had a loan of about £5 million, and its loan became permanent at nearly £30 million.

Additionally, fans have seen several transfer targets slip through the cracks, and Antoine Semenyo has agreed to a new deal with Bournemouth and Ebebech Eze, and is now dooming Arsenal.

Worse, Manchester United is more likely to get Brian Mbemo, who was heavily promoted for his move to the N17 following the appointment of Thomas Frank.

But it’s not all fate and darkness, as Spurs are reportedly close to securing services for those who will become their version of Brentford’s star.

Spurs target their own Mbeumo

As the club is looking to significantly improve its horrifying 17th place finish in the Premier League next season, it’s no surprise to see it linking with some impressive international stars, such as the Xavi Simons and Ademola Lookman.

The former could cost around £60 million this summer, which is definitely a lot, but he’s worth it as he’s only 22 years old and accumulated 11 goals and eight assists in just 33 appearances for RB Leipzig.

Similarly, Lookman will cost over £50 million, but his tally of Atalanta’s 40 games last season with 20 goals and seven assists suggests he is worth the spending.

However, they are as talented as both players, but unlike Mohammed Kudus, neither of them are compared to Mbeumo.

Yes, according to a recent report from Football Insider, the Spurs are very interested in the West Ham United star despite the initial £50 million offer being rejected.

In fact, the report reveals that North Londoners have concluded a “new talk” about the Irons star, and that it is likely that they will now cost around £65 million.

This is a transfer representing a major financial investment from the club, but it is worth it given Kudus’ immeasurable ability, especially as he is compared to Mbeumo.

How Kudus compares to Mbeumo

One of the most important comparisons between Kudus and Mbeumo comes from FBREF, analysing Premier League players from last season and concludes that the Brentford star is the sixth-like advancement to the Hammers Ace in the competition.

The best way to understand how that conclusion was reached is to look at some of the underlying metrics in which the pairs are closely ranked.

These include non-penalty expected goals, progressive carry, shot-making actions, successful take-on percentages, and more, all about 90.

These numbers help show that Ghanaian International can have an offensive output similar to that of the Cameroon Ace, despite not scoring as many goals as last season.

And there are even simpler similarities, away from the statistics.

For example, both players are playing trades for London-based teams, and both seem destined to join another Premier League side this summer.

Finally, both players are positionally versatile, with the bee star being able to play as the right, top, or second striker, while the previous Ajax gem can be played throughout the front line and also in the middle.

Ultimately, it’s not cheap, but you should do everything you can to complete the Kudus transaction.
