Arsenal’s potential contract to sign Valencia defender Christian Mosquera reportedly has “completely stalled,” according to the Daily Mirror.
Gunner is said to be keen to sign a talented young Spanish centre-back and be keen to move to Emirates Stadium.
Mosquera has informed Valencia of his desire to join Arsenal, but the two clubs agreeing to the rates may still be difficult.
Mirror’s claims that Arsenal is unhappy with the Valencia hierarchy’s first approach, and will likely cost more than £20 million.
Even if Mosquera makes it clear he wants this move, things seem to be stagnant for now.
Can Arsenal still sign Christian Mosquera?
Valencia does not appear to be in the most powerful negotiating position, along with Mosquera in the final year of his contract.
This could mean there is a serious risk of losing his 21 year on a free transfer in a year, unless Valencia cashes him.
Even if that means losing Mosquera below market value, it’s better than nothing, so Arsenal is probably citing ways to land players at a reasonable fee.
What will Mosquera bring to Arsenal?
A tall, impressive central defender, Mosquera appears to have the attributes to succeed in the Premier League.
But for now, it’s hard to imagine that he will probably get many opportunities to start before William Saliba and Gabriel Magalges.
Mosquera can also be filled out from the right back if necessary. So, after Ben White missed much of last season due to an injury, and after the Julientivers came out almost the entire campaign before that, it could become another useful option for Mikel Arteta.
