Yankees Shift All-Star Infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. Over to Second Base from Third

All-star infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. has returned to the New York Yankees’ second base position, replacing DJ LeMahieu, who has been moved to the bench. While Chisholm typically covers third base, he recently made an uncharacteristic throw while dealing with shoulder pain, highlighting some of the Yankees’ defensive challenges.

Chisholm resumed his role at second base for the series opener against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night, with Oswald Peraza starting at third. In other team updates, reliever Mark Reiter Jr. has been placed on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Monday due to a stress fracture in his left leg. To fill the roster, right-handed pitcher Clayton Beter was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and right-handed Cam Schlittler was also promoted from Triple-A, set to make his major league debut Wednesday night.

Reported by Associated Press.

Fan Take: Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s return to second base could be a crucial move for the Yankees as they look to strengthen their infield defense. This shuffle, coupled with fresh talent being called up, signals the team’s proactive approach to maintaining competitiveness, which keeps fans excited about the season ahead.
