Everton hopes to raise the Premier League table next season, but to do so, they will need to improve David Moet’s team. And one area where you have plans to deal with is right back.
During the final week of last season, Everton’s two main options at right back were Ashley Young, 40, and Sheamus Coleman, 36. The former then departs at the expiration of his contract, and it is clear that a new signature is needed, as Nathan Patterson does not seem to rely on Moyes. And they could come from Brazil.
Everton set the sights on Flamengo’s defender Wesley Franca
According to a football insider, Mick Brown revealed that Everton wants to sign Wesley Franca of Flamengo, but they need to beat Brighton for his signature.
“David Moet has some important issues he wants to tackle. Branthawaite has signed a new contract, so that’s out of the way, but he still wants to bolster his defense by signing a new right-back.
“They’ve seen Wesley, a Brazilian youth linked to some Premier League clubs as his agents are trying to move him. Brighton is in discussion so Everton was able to hijack their deal.
“Everton had people at the Club World Cup. He was impressive. If his fee is around £20 million, that’s the price they have to pay and that would be considered a long-term investment for them.
Arsenal linked with Wesley earlier this year, but now Brighton appears to be Everton’s main competition. It is still unclear whether the 21-year-old, who has already appeared on the Brazilian national team twice, has been moving forward.
