49ers WR Demarcus Robinson Drops DUI Contest Amid Disability Driving Allegations After Speeding Over 100 Miles

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson did not dispute a misdemeanor DUI charge filed against him after police reported he was driving at over 100 mph while under the influence of alcohol. According to the Los Angeles City Lawyer’s Office and the Orange County Register, Robinson was sentenced to three years probation and fined $390. He is required to complete several programs, including hospital and morgue visits and a three-month alcohol education program. He is also prohibited from driving with any measurable amount of alcohol in his system and will not serve jail time.

As part of his plea deal, charges related to driving with a blood alcohol content above 0.08% and driving without a valid license were dropped, Robinson’s attorney Jacqueline Sparagna told the Orange County Register. The incident occurred on November 25 near Woodland Hills, a Los Angeles suburb, when Robinson was with the Rams. The California Highway Patrol reported seeing a white Dodge sedan driving over 100 mph on the 101 Highway at around 5:13 a.m. Monday. After being pulled over, Robinson identified himself and showed clear signs of alcohol impairment.

It is unclear if Robinson underwent any drinking tests. The arrest followed a Rams home game loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, in which Robinson caught a touchdown. The CHP noted Robinson was released by the arresting officers. Robinson later described the incident as a “bad look,” stating he did not want to bring negative attention to his team and that such behavior is not typical for him. He was formally charged with DUI in January.

During the past season with the Rams, Robinson played all 17 regular-season games, recording 505 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. In the offseason, he signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the 49ers.

Fan Take: This news is significant for NFL fans because it highlights the importance of player accountability both on and off the field. Robinson’s case serves as a reminder that personal conduct can impact not only a player’s career but also the reputation and culture of the entire league.
