At their homecoming concert in Manchester, some Oasis fans expressed surprise when the band honored Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
Liam Gallagher, addressing the crowd, declared, “Do you know what I mean? He’s the greatest manager of all time, the one and only Pep Guardiola.”
During their first concert in Manchester in 16 years, part of their reunion tour, Oasis dedicated a song to Guardiola at Heaton Park on Friday night.
Noel Gallagher playfully challenged the audience, asking, “Who are you booing?”
Having grown up in Manchester as passionate City supporters, the Gallagher brothers have been lifelong fans and have witnessed Guardiola lead the club to six Premier League titles and many other accolades over the years.
Guardiola, who received respectful cheers, seemingly took the rivalry with the Manchester United fans in stride, joining everyone in singing “Don’t Look Back in Anger.”
This concert kicked off a series of five sold-out shows at Heaton Park for the iconic British band, following their tour launch in Cardiff, Wales last week.
Fan Take: This tribute highlights the strong connection between culture and soccer, showcasing how music and sports can unite fans. For soccer enthusiasts, it underscores the admiration for Guardiola’s monumental impact on the game, emphasizing the passion that resonates beyond the pitch.
