  • Newcastle United hopes for James Trafford this summer
  • Trafford is ready to leave Burnley

Newcastle United are preparing for an updated negotiation to sign Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

According to TBR Football, both clubs are scheduled to resume discussion next week as Magpies strengthen their pursuit of the 22-year-old shotstopper.

Burnley’s manager Scott Parker describes Trafford as a “special” player, and it’s easy to see why. The goalkeeper conceded just 16 goals in the championship last season.

For Newcastle, it’s not just about signing an elite keeper, but also about strengthening the team to return to top-level competition.

Manager Eddie Howe is ready to offer Trafford a long-term contract, as personal terms have been reportedly set since last fall.

The challenge now lies in satisfying Burnley’s reputation. That’s over £30 million.

Nick Pope will remain an influential presence at St. James Park, but Trafford is expected to join him as a strong competing option.

Newcastle believes Trafford is ready to step in immediately, especially given the physicality and the requirements to stop the shot in competition in both the Premier League and Europe.

Burnley is determined in their attitude. They don’t have to sell star players and are patiently waiting for an acceptable offer.

Meanwhile, Newcastle is ready to return to the negotiation table and is sure Trafford is ready to move to St. James Park.

Hau’s side failed in the last two attempts to bring the goalkeeper to the club.

The magpie, which has already completed the signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest this summer, is ready to maintain the summer transfer business with the signatures of talented goalkeepers like Trafford.
