The LA Lakers have several intriguing players making their mark in the 2025 Summer League. Among them, Bronnie James stands out, garnering attention with a more composed and confident performance that has earned him praise. Cole Swider is also turning heads with his impressive scoring ability, sparking excitement and curiosity about his future potential.

Another notable player is Darius Bazley, a former 2019 draft pick originally selected by the Utah Jazz before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Bazley played a key role in the New Orleans Pelicans’ compelling 94-81 win on July 12, contributing a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, alongside four assists and five blocks. Meanwhile, Cole Swider also recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, though without any blocks.

Lakers’ Summer League coach Lindsay Harding praised Bazley’s defensive skills, highlighting his versatility by saying, “He does a great job from the ball. Sometimes the defender is great on the ball, not from the ball, and vice versa. He can do it all. He’s long, we needed him for every position and they were huge blocks.”

Bazley brings NBA experience from his stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, and Utah Jazz, including seven playoff games with OKC. After a recent season in China, he aims to revive his career this summer. When asked about what he hopes to demonstrate to the other NBA teams, Bazley said, “If they come to pick me up, I can defend at a high level, knock down shots, I’m progressing with my shots. My development as a player is more critical and leads to more offensive opportunities.”
