  • Man United is not participating in the race to sign Victor Osimhen
  • Reuben Amorim is looking for alternatives in the market

Manchester United hopes to sign a new striker this summer, with the Red Devils linking with some of the biggest names in the market.

Old Trafford is desperately needed a new striker as Reuben Amorim aims to solve the team’s goalscoring problems.

They finished with negative goal differences in the Premier League last season, and both their strikers Rasmus Hozilund and Joshua Zilky struggled to find consistency throughout the season.

Victor Osimhen, Hugo Ekitike, Ollie Watkins and others have linked their move to Old Trafford, but one of them heads for another club and Man United was left behind in the race to sign him.

Man United is not participating in the race to sign Victor Osimhen

According to Fabrizio Romano, a well-known transfer expert, Man United appears to have removed itself from the race to sign Naples striker Victor Osimchen.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano rebutted recent speculations linked to Nigeria International, saying the Red Devils have not even discussed with Osimhen, his agents or representatives on either side of the potential move.

He said: “From what I said, a report on Man Utd hijacking Galatasaray deals from Victor Osimhen, this is not true.

“Osimhen is approaching joining Galatasaray. A deal of 75 million euros. Now Naples must give final approval. Galatasaray is approaching with confidence in always signing Osimhen.

“New contacts will be in the new week. ManUTD is not part of this story, not part of this conversation. Galatasaray is 16 million euros per season as Osimhen gives important salary.

“Man Utd never got into those numbers tables in terms of salary. Forget the hijacking.”

The Premier League Giants are currently considering options in the market, but it is still unclear which direction they will take.

The Red Devils, who have already signed wolves Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford, are working to solve their goalscoring issues, but the club will also need a proven number nine this summer.

Amorim has made a big decision this summer as Osimhen heads for Galatasaray and another transfer target, Viktor Gyoker, heads to join rival Arsenal.

Despite previous reports of moving Osimhen to Man United, he is heading to Türkiye, which was impressed by the loan spell last season.

The 17-goal ace was urged to change the club, and Man United Maube said it would be “good” for him.
