Aston Villa is looking to strengthen their team now that PSR concerns have been resolved over another season. Unai Emery needs a lot of reinforcements and one possible arrival could come from the La Liga market, which he knows very well.

Aston Villa, who wants to bolster ahead of their Europa League play next season, needs a new midfielder or two. And the person who can travel to Villa Park is Connor Gallagher.

Gallagher, who had been linked to Newcastle in recent weeks, has been able to return to the Premier League, where he had a rather difficult first season at Atletico Madrid, who joined from Chelsea last summer.

According to a soccer insider, Pete O’Rourke has revealed that Aston Villa is one of the clubs that interest Gallagher.

“It’s not surprising that there’s interest from Premier League clubs. He’s a top player and shows that not only for Chelsea and his other clubs, but also for England.

“It depends heavily on where Gallagher sees his future. There will be a big year in which he wants to play regularly to infiltrate Thomas Touchel’s England team. He joined Atletico last year for around £40 million from Chelsea.

“I don’t know if Premier League clubs are willing to go to these levels for Gallagher, but if Atletico puts him on the market, it’s not surprising that Newcastle, Everton and others are looking at Connor Gallagher.

“Aston Villa is also interested, because he is a proven Premier League player. They are in the race, and if he becomes available, he will be interested.

It will be interesting to see if Gallagher will return to England later this summer. Aston Villa will be a good move for him, but Atletico’s asking price will thwart any pursuits in the near future.
