Former UFC Star Challenges Conor McGregor for a High-Stakes Return at the White House Super Card

Conor McGregor quickly decided on his comeback after learning about UFC’s plans to hold an event on the White House grounds. A few weeks ago, US President Donald Trump revealed that he and the UFC were in serious talks about hosting a historic fight on White House property. This announcement piqued the interest of top fighters, including Jon Jones, who recently ended a brief retirement to rejoin the UFC. However, Jones wasn’t the only one teasing a return; McGregor also expressed to Dana White his eagerness to compete in what could be the biggest event in UFC history.

Dana White mentioned that both Jones and McGregor could be part of this spectacular card, with his dream main event featuring a heavyweight title bout between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones—a fight Jones missed due to his previous retirement. McGregor, on the other hand, seems keen on Michael Chandler as his most probable comeback opponent. Yet, his potential biggest rival, former UFC fighter Mike Perry, is pushing for a return to the UFC to face McGregor instead. Perry, who has been clashing with McGregor—especially after McGregor made light of Perry’s loss to Jake Paul in boxing—expressed on the Overdog podcast his desire to replace Chandler and fight McGregor at 170 pounds.

Though Perry’s return to the UFC might seem unlikely now, given his current stint in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), recent interactions between him and McGregor at BKFC events have kept their rivalry in the public eye. Despite some negative press, it appears certain that McGregor will participate in the White House event, marking what could be the most significant fight card in UFC history.

Bringing the UFC to the White House grounds not only elevates the sport’s profile but could also inspire more mainstream attention and growth for mixed martial arts worldwide.
