The Indiana Fever are spotlighting Sophie Cunningham as the 2025 season marks several key achievements for the team. On July 1st, the Fever triumphed over the Minnesota Lynx 74-59 at the Target Center, clinching both the inaugural Commissioner’s Cup and a $500,000 prize. Meanwhile, Gainbridge Field House is set to host the WNBA All-Star Game and associated events for the first time in franchise history, following the court’s removal.

During Wednesday’s game against the New York Liberty, Cunningham reached a significant personal milestone by playing her 200th career WNBA game. The Fever acknowledged this accomplishment on social media, congratulating Cunningham for her perseverance and dedication. Drafted 13th overall by the Phoenix Mercury in 2019, Cunningham has been a reliable scorer and defender over six seasons, averaging 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.7 steals per game.

In a notable trade on January 31, Cunningham was acquired by Indiana as part of a four-team deal, which included Alyssa Thomas moving to Phoenix, Dihony Carrington heading to Dallas, and Natasha Cloud joining the Connecticut Sun, thereby strengthening Indiana’s veteran roster. This season, Cunningham has averaged 6.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 0.9 steals per game, playing 22.8 minutes on average while shooting 41.5% from the field, 38.9% from three-point range, and 84.6% on free throws.

The Fever, currently holding third place in the WNBA Eastern Conference with a 12-10 record, boast the third-highest scoring average in the league at 84.5 points per game. As the team aims to make a strong playoff push, seasoned players like Cunningham will be pivotal in securing consistent playtime and climbing the standings.
