Jannik Sinner-Carlos Alcaraz Wimbledon Final brings out the biggest reputation in six years as the next generation of tennis takes over

If the rating for the 2025 Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final is a judge, fans are beginning to embrace the latest generation of tennis.

The final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz saw Sinner score 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, and 6-4, averaged 2.9 million viewers on ESPN, the network announced Wednesday. The numbers reportedly peaked at 4 million viewers at the end of the match.

On the women’s side, the ultimate Amanda Anisimova’s 6-0, 6-0 double basing average of 6-0, 6-0 double basing was just 1.3 million viewers, and it wasn’t surprising given how uncompetitive the matches were.

The male viewer is not an increase of 31% from last year’s final between Alkaraz and Novak Djokovic. This is the best number the tournament has seen since the 2019 final between Djokovic and Roger Federer, and the last two members (Rafael Nadal) of the Big Three (along with Rafael Nadal) before the sport at Wimbledon. That 2019 match adjusted an average of 3.8 million viewers.

Since then, Wimbledon has won the final in 2021 and 2022, where Djokovic beat Djokovic less opponents and 2022 and 2023.

Tennis required Janik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Since Federer and Nadal began to decline more than 50 years ago, tennis has seen 45 of the 59 grand slams win between 2004 and 24, waiting for a new generation to take over. Add Andy Murray to 48 of 59.

A talented player appeared and won the slams in the case of Danil Medvedev and Dominique Thiem, but was not stuck to the 23-year-old sinner and 22-year-old Alkaraz. The Italians and Spaniards have won all the Grand Slams since Djokovic’s latest title at the 2023 US Open and are currently taking part in seemingly all major tournaments on the collision course.

The sport of tennis seemed to be in a worse place when he recently suggested, when Djokovic, the standard bearer of the previous generation, called it a career. Currently, there are two more players in their greatest careers of all time.
