Liverpool is reportedly making progress in club-to-club talks on the transfer of Eintrack Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitique.
The French forward shines during his time in the Bundesliga, contributing to an impressive 22 goals and 11 assists last season.
This summer there was a lot of speculation about Ekitique’s future.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool is now seeing exactly where he will end up, but it appears that Liverpool is on the verge of discussing the signature of this exciting possibility.
For two important posts from Romano on X, we suggest that there is nothing concrete about Newcastle and Ekichike, so please see below…
Liverpool advances in Hugo Ekitice Transfer – Fabrizio Romano
Romano posted this morning. “Reports regarding the ongoing Hugo Ekitique deal with Newcastle yesterday will not be confirmed at this stage. Newcastle’s final bid was rejected by Entracht on Monday and no new proposals were sent by then.
He then added: “We understand that Liverpool is moving forward today to talk about Entracht and the club for Hugo Ekicchike at the club, while Isaac’s deal relies on Newcastle’s final decision to assert an unsold attitude.
This is certainly an exciting update for Liverpool fans. Liverpool fans are increasingly looking forward to the new season with many new additions to their team.
LFC supporters are already looking for ways to buy Community Shield tickets, so they will be able to witness these new arrivals as soon as possible.
Man United is also linked to Ekitique
There was still some talk yesterday that Manchester United was taking part in the Ekichike race.
See below as Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg made that claim, but this has not been confirmed by Romano in his latest post.
Anyway, Ekitike certainly wants to join United in Liverpool and Newcastle.
The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League table last season and finished 15th in the Europa League final, so there was no European football for the 2025/26 campaign.
