Brno Rap Record Shattered—For an Unbelievable Four Seconds!

Francesco Bagnaia is eager to kick off the MotoGP race weekend at Brno, marking the return to the Czech Republic Circuit for the first time since 2020. The Ducati factory rider shared that recent private testing, which included Yamaha and Honda competitors, saw lap times shatter a previous record by an impressive four seconds following a complete track resurfacing.

Bagnaia expressed his enthusiasm, calling Brno his favorite track and looking forward to the weekend ahead, as reported by Sky Italia. He praised the new track conditions, noting the trucks were already impressive before resurfacing and expected them to perform even better now. Hearing about the significant four-second reduction in test lap times excited him, describing the circuit as quite different from what he remembered.

During these private tests, riders from Yamaha (Alex Rins, Miguel Oliveira, Augusto Fernandez) and Honda’s Luca Marini also participated and showed promising form going into the race weekend.

Official records at Brno stand as follows:
– Best Qualifying Lap: Marc Marquez, Honda, 1:54.596 (2016)
– Fastest Race Lap: Dani Pedrosa, Honda, 1:56.026 (2014)

Bagnaia last competed at Brno in 2019, finishing 12th as a rookie. He missed the 2020 race due to injury. With the improved grip levels expected this year, Bagnaia is optimistic that the Ducati GP25 can enhance its performance, aiming to narrow the substantial lead held by Marc Marquez in the championship.

Bagnaia had a tough time in the wet sprint and faced challenges in the mixed conditions at the German GP but still managed a podium finish. Meanwhile, his Ducati teammate, Marc Marquez, enters Brno with a commanding championship lead and an eight-race winning streak.

“We all know Marc’s potential,” Bagnaia acknowledged, “but now we’re heading to circuits where I believe I have a real chance to win. We understand his condition and riding style well, and I’m working hard to regain the confidence to challenge him because I know the opportunity is there.”

Currently, Bagnaia is third in the World Championship standings, trailing Marquez by 147 points and Gresini’s Alex by 64 points, which means the top three positions will likely remain unchanged after Brno.

Fan Take: This news excites racing fans because Bagnaia’s renewed confidence and the track improvements could shake up the championship dynamics, challenging Marquez’s dominance. The resurfaced Brno Circuit may become a pivotal battleground that revitalizes the competition and keeps MotoGP thrilling this season.
