The Los Angeles Clippers have secured an agreement to sign Bradley Beal for next season. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have reportedly reached out to the Golden State Warriors about restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, according to Steinline’s Jake Fisher. Kuminga desires a more lucrative contract and a more consistent role within the Warriors’ lineup. Though a short-term deal could be possible, the prevailing expectation is that Kuminga will join a different team next season.

A key challenge is that very few teams have the salary cap space to meet Kuminga’s contract demands. The Chicago Bulls were once considered potential suitors, but they have yet to finalize a deal with their own restricted free agent, Josh Giddey. While Chicago is not entirely ruled out, the lack of progress in July suggests they are not rushing the process. The Sacramento Kings were another possible destination, but no developments have occurred there either.

The Phoenix Suns are seen as an intriguing fit, though obstacles remain. The Warriors want a first-round draft pick in exchange for Kuminga through a sign-and-trade. However, Phoenix lacks sufficient first-round picks to make a direct trade, having only one first-round pick in 2025 and none until 2032 due to obligations to other teams. If the Suns are keen on Kuminga, they may need to involve a third team to acquire the assets the Warriors want.
