Raiders’ Christian Wilkins Shares Adorable Puppy Wishlist Following Leg Injury Comeback

The Las Vegas Raiders faced a significant challenge earlier this year when Wilkins, recovering from a broken leg, was unable to participate physically with the team. Wilkins is set to miss the start of training camp, which begins this Wednesday, as he remains on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list but can be activated once medically cleared during the camp.

Wilkins’ injury ended his season in week 5 last year, leading to a slow recovery that caused him to miss all organized team activities and mini-camps. Coaches acknowledged the difficulty of his rehab, with Pete Carroll noting in May that Wilkins was putting in the effort but wasn’t ready to return yet.

The 29-year-old defensive lineman was the Raiders’ high-profile free agent signing last year, agreeing to a four-year, $110 million deal with $82.75 million guaranteed. He was expected to bring elite run-stopping skills, having set a career-high with nine sacks during his time with Miami in 2023, and to strengthen the defensive line alongside Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonse. Unfortunately, all three key linemen have suffered season-ending injuries.

Before his injury, Wilkins registered two sacks and 17 tackles in five games. The injury was a Jones fracture—a break in the bone linking the pinky toe to the leg—requiring surgery.

Report by Associated Press.

Fan Take: This news is crucial for NFL fans as it highlights the impact of injuries on star players and team dynamics early in the season. Wilkins’ absence could significantly affect the Raiders’ defensive prowess, underscoring the importance of depth and resilience in the sport.
