Arsenal has officially secured the signing of Noni Madueke from London rivals Chelsea, the club announced on Friday.

According to sources at ESPN, Arsenal has agreed to the transfer fee for the 23-year-old, which includes an additional £4 million in performance-related bonuses as part of a five-year contract.

Madueke was signed by Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in 2023 for £30 million.

“I was just taking it easy, waiting for everything to be finalized, and when I arrived today, it felt incredibly real. I’m thrilled and proud to be here. It’s wonderful to be back home and spend time with my dad,” he shared.

“Arsenal is already a fantastic team with a defined style, and I’m eager to contribute my style to help the team progress further.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly a strong admirer of the England international and was keen to sign him last year.

“At just 23, Noni already has international experience and is familiar with the Premier League,” Arteta stated. “We have witnessed the quality of Noni’s performances closely in recent seasons, so we’re excited about his arrival.”

This summer, new sporting director Andrea Berta has overseen negotiations, making Madueke the fourth senior signing of the transfer window, following Kepa Alizabaraga, Christian Norgado, and Martin Zubimendi.

Madueke played 46 matches across all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring 11 goals, and his fitness and versatility were key factors in his recruitment.

While he primarily excels as a right winger, Madueke has shown that he can also perform effectively on the left side.

“Noni’s performance statistics and availability in recent seasons are exceptional, showcasing his quality and dedication,” Berta commented. “He is a dynamic and versatile wide-forward with excellent technical skills that will significantly enhance our squad.”

This report includes information from James Olley and Reuters of ESPN.

Fan Take: This signing is significant for soccer fans as it not only strengthens Arsenal’s squad but also highlights the ongoing rivalry and player movement between London clubs. Madueke’s arrival could mark a turning point for Arsenal as they aim for greater success in the Premier League and beyond.
