The WNBA is eagerly anticipating the debut of the original Diana Taurasi documentary series, initially featured on Athlon Sports. The series, titled “Taurasi,” premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 7th and highlights the remarkable 20-year career of Diana Taurasi, the league’s all-time leading scorer and a trailblazer in women’s basketball.

The announcement was shared by Prime Video on Instagram, stating, “Only Legends Will Change the Game. Taurasi will premiere on Prime Video on August 7th.” The official WNBA account quickly responded with excitement, “Can’t wait!”

Taurasi, aged 43, retired in February 2025 after an illustrious career exclusively with the Phoenix Mercury, the team that drafted her first overall in 2004. The Mercury officially confirmed the documentary’s release on July 16th, celebrating it as a tribute to Taurasi’s unmatched legacy. She holds the records for most points and three-pointers in the league and ranks fourth in assists.

Beyond the WNBA, Taurasi is a six-time Olympic gold medalist, sharing this honor with her teammate Sue Bird. She recently added to her impressive list of accolades by winning the 2025 ESPYS Icon Award.

During her acceptance speech at the ESPYS, Taurasi delivered an emotional message about her immigrant roots and inspired upcoming athletes to work hard, be loyal, and bring passion every day. “We did it. We have no shortcuts, no apologies, no regrets,” she said.

Though she has stepped away from professional play, Taurasi remains committed to growing the sport, launching a snow volleyball basketball camp in California from July 24-27 in partnership with a US sports camp.
