Josh Sargent, a forward for the US men’s national team, is poised to sign with Bundesliga club Wolfsberg for a transfer fee exceeding 21 million euros (about $24.4 million), according to sources informing ESPN.

The 25-year-old has performed strongly at Norwich City, where he has been since departing Werder Bremen in 2021. During his time with Norwich, he netted 46 goals in 124 league appearances, primarily in the Championship.

Sargent participated in Norwich’s Premier League season in 2021-22 and has spent the last three years competing in the UK’s lower divisions.

With five goals from 28 appearances for the USMNT, Sargent aims to be a significant contributor in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

Wolfsberg has already secured Sheffield United midfielder Vinnie Sousa this summer, while Norwich has seen players like Jonathan Lowe transfer to Porto and Boruja Sänze leave for Marseille.

Fan Take: This move is critical for soccer enthusiasts as it demonstrates the rising value of American players in European leagues. Sargent’s success in the Bundesliga could inspire more U.S. talent to pursue opportunities abroad, further elevating the profile of American soccer on the global stage.
