Blood Binder Delivers a Tough Take on the Czech MotoGP: “Almost Within Reach”

KTM’s Brad Binder expressed disappointment with his pace at the 2025 MotoGP Czech Grand Prix, describing it as “not close enough” after qualifying near the back in ninth place. The Czech event marked MotoGP’s return to Brno, a track where Binder achieved his first premier class win in 2020, but this time he struggled, especially in the wet conditions on Friday and qualifying in 19th position.

During the race, Binder managed to gain some ground, finishing 10th on the road before being moved up to ninth following a penalty to Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer. He finished 17.371 seconds behind the winner and was overtaken by 14 KTM teammates, including Pedro Acosta who secured third place.

Reflecting on the weekend, Binder told the official MotoGP site that his problems began in the wet Free Practice 1, and despite some improvement in the sprint and main races, his performance was still below his expectations. He acknowledged the difficulty of starting so far back but noted that finishing 8th (presumably after adjustments) showed progress, emphasizing the need to keep working on his speed.

Acosta’s podium finish marked KTM’s first top-three result of the season, building on a successful double podium in the Brno sprint race. Binder currently sits 12th in the championship with 68 points, while Acosta holds 7th with 124 points.

Fan Take: This news is significant for racing fans as it highlights the ongoing challenges and competitiveness within the MotoGP grid, especially for KTM and its riders. Binder’s struggle contrasted with Acosta’s podium suggests that KTM still has potential for growth, making the upcoming races crucial for the team’s development and the excitement of the championship.
