As she prepares to compete for the first time in more than a year, Venus Williams has not ruled out the possibility of her younger sister, tennis legend Serena Williams.

“I keep telling my team, the only thing that makes this even better is if she’s here,” Venus said according to the Associated Press. “We’ve always done everything together, so of course I miss her, but I’m sure she’ll let her know everything when she comes back.”

A few days ago, a rumour of a possible comeback began when Serena posted a video captioned about hitting the ball on a tennis court. “Never Serena.” Among the over 5,000 commenters for Serena’s video was 28 Olympic medalist Michael Phelps.

Venus said Serena has recently participated in one of her 15-20 minute training.

“She can take six months off and make it clean,” Venus said. “You can’t teach that kind of talent. She’s very good.”

Venus admitted that he doesn’t know what Serena will do in terms of potential comeback. She clearly wants her sister to play again, but the 45-year-old Venus is currently focusing on accepting her comeback. The winner of the seven-time single grand slam, DC Open is Venus’ first professional event since the Miami Open in March 2024.
