Sidney Crosby, captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, has firmly established himself as one of hockey’s all-time greats through an illustrious NHL career. Despite the Penguins missing the playoffs for the third straight season, Crosby put up an impressive 33 goals and 91 points in 80 games, marking his third consecutive season scoring over 90 points. He also amassed 30 points in the Penguins’ final 21 games.

Crosby’s stellar performance is bringing him close to surpassing Mario Lemieux’s franchise record for most points, with Crosby currently ninth in NHL history at 1,687 points, just 36 shy of Lemieux. If he remains healthy this season, Crosby is expected to break this record and hold it for years to come.

Additionally, Crosby is only 68 points away from tying Steve Yzerman for seventh place on the NHL’s all-time scoring list. In terms of assists, Crosby ranks 10th in NHL history with 1,062, having passed Gordie Howe in the 2024-25 season. At just 38 years old, with only 1,100 games played, he is on track to surpass legends like Yzerman and Adam Oates on the all-time assists list.

While the Penguins may be struggling this season, Crosby continues to give fans a compelling reason to watch the games night after night.

Fan Take: Sidney Crosby’s pursuit of historic milestones is a thrilling storyline for hockey enthusiasts, underscoring his lasting impact on the sport. His continued excellence not only energizes Penguins fans but also inspires the next generation of players, ensuring hockey’s rich legacy endures.
