The Chicago Blackhawks are optimistic about goaltender Spencer Knight, believing he could become a key player for the team. Drafted in the first round of 2019, Knight has shown early promise and there is strong hope that he still has room to grow.

During the recent season, Knight played for both the Florida Panthers and the Blackhawks, appearing in 38 games with an average of 2.72 goals against, a record of 17-16-3, and a .901 save percentage. It was a solid season for the young netminder, and many are eager to see how he performs as the Blackhawks’ starting goalie in the 2025-26 season.

Across four NHL seasons and 95 games, Knight holds a 49-33-9 record, a .904 save percentage, and an average of 2.83 goals against. He has earned recognition for his dependable performances throughout the year.

The NHL is brimming with young talent, and the league continues to trend younger. The Blackhawks are no exception, boasting skilled players in all positions. NHL Fantasy/Edge ranked Knight as the 8th best goaltender under 26 for the 2025-26 season, alongside players like Joel Hofer of the St. Louis Blues and Levi Meriläinen of the Ottawa Senators.

Given Knight’s early career performances, his inclusion on this list is well justified. If he continues to develop, he could have a standout season in 2025-26, making him an attractive pick for fantasy hockey managers.

In another note, former Blackhawks forward Dylan Strome was not offered a qualifying contract by the team during the 2022 NHL offseason, making him an unrestricted free agent. He subsequently signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Washington Capitals. Strome had a strong 2021-22 season with the Blackhawks, scoring 22 goals and accumulating 48 points.

Fan Take: Spencer Knight’s rise highlights the exciting influx of young talent shaping the future of hockey, making the Blackhawks a team to watch in the coming years. His development not only boosts Chicago’s prospects but also adds fresh intrigue for fans and fantasy managers alike, underscoring the sport’s evolving dynamic.
