Stefanos Tsitsipas is split from director Goran Ivanisevic

Stefanos Tsitsipas ended his collaboration with director Goran Ivanisevic less than two months later, said former World No. 3.

“My work with Goran Ivanisevic is short, but it was a fierce experience of my journey and a truly valuable chapter,” Tsitsipas posted on his Instagram story on Wednesday.

Ranked 29th, Tsitsipas appointed Ivanisevic as coach in May after a series of disappointing results in the Grand Slam.

The 2021 French Open and the 2023 Australian Open runner-up were forced to retire from Wimbledon’s first round match in June.

Following the exit of Tsitsipas’ opening round at Wimbledon, Ivanisevic gave a poignant evaluation of the 26-year-old Greek, saying that he “had never seen a player who was more unprepared” in his life. Tsitsipas has made a one-in-a-half final in his past nine Grand Slam tournaments.

Tsitsipas expressed his gratitude “for the time, effort and energy he dedicated to me and my team.”

“I respect Golan now because we follow our separate ways – not only about what he accomplished in tennis, but who he is as a person.

Ivanisevic, who won Wimbledon as a player in 2001, helped claim Novak Djokovic for nine of his 24 Grand Slam titles before leaving the team last March. He then did a short stint this season with Elena Rivakina, the world No. 12 of Kazakh.
