Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, expressed doubts about the club’s ability to meet its goals in the transfer market this summer, following the signing of Marcus Rashford.

Rashford became the third addition for Barça this window, joining goalkeeper Joan Garcia and young forward Rooney Bardozi after his loan from Manchester United.

“We have achieved all of our targets for next season,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo.

“As a general rule, we aren’t pursuing any more signings at this moment. We have a strong squad and a coach (Hansi Flick) who is focused on improving our first team if necessary.”

Barcelona’s ability to register new signings hinges on player departures, but Laporta emphasized that the club isn’t compelled to let anyone go unless necessary to comply with La Liga’s financial fair play rules.

The club got a positive development with the confirmed transfer of forward Pauvictor to Portuguese side Braga on Friday.

“This gives us salary savings,” Laporta noted prior to Pauvictor’s move.

“Other transfers, like Pablo Torre’s loan to Mallorca, have been finalized, but there aren’t any players being sold for large fees despite the interest.”

“We want to maintain team cohesion from last season as that connection with our fans is vital for us,” he added, highlighting the importance of not disrupting the team’s spirit.

Laporta was inquired about managing club finances under La Liga regulations.

“Things are progressing positively, and we’ll be able to register the players we’ve signed,” he said.

Barcelona arrived in Japan on Saturday, gearing up for their Asia Tour opener against Bissel Kobe on Sunday.

Rashford, Garcia, and Bardozi are set to make their Debuts, while Flick has also been observing younger talents like Diego Cochen, Guile Fernandez, Toni Fernandez, Pedro “Doro” Fernandez, and Jofre Trent.

Fan Take: This news is pivotal for soccer enthusiasts as it highlights Barcelona’s commitment to building a cohesive team while navigating financial constraints. The club’s focus on retaining core players while integrating new talent could redefine their competitiveness in both domestic and international arenas, making this an exciting time for fans.
