Titans’ Star WR Treylon Burks Faces Broken Collarbone, Set to Miss Season Opener

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Traylon Burks reportedly sustained a broken collarbone during practice on Saturday, according to NFL Network reporters Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. The 25-year-old athlete is undergoing additional medical evaluations, and the exact recovery timeline remains uncertain. It is expected that Burks will miss at least the beginning of the regular season.

Titans coach Brian Callahan confirmed, "Traylon Burks is currently being evaluated for a shoulder injury. We’ll provide updates on his status when appropriate." According to Tennessee correspondent Alex Dorgerty, Burks was injured after diving to catch a pass during practice and immediately grabbed his shoulder upon landing. After consulting with the athletic trainer, he left for the locker room. Following Burks’ injury, the team signed Ramel Keaton, who previously played eight games against the Las Vegas Raiders last season.

This injury represents a significant setback for Burks, who only played five games last year after a season-ending ACL surgery. Since being drafted 18th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, Burks has faced numerous challenges, missing five games in each of his first two seasons and suffering another ACL injury in 2024. His absence diminishes the Titans’ passing options, including Ward, the number one overall pick in the recent NFL Draft. New Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi has added depth to the receiver corps by signing free agents Van Jefferson and Tyler Rockett, drafting Chimea Dyke and Eric Ayomer, and inviting Nick Westblue Ikane and Tyler Boyd to try out.

Last season, the Titans ranked 25th in the NFL in total receptions (336) and receiving yards (3,621). The team will kick off their 2025 campaign against the Denver Broncos.

Fan Take: This injury is a tough blow for the Titans and highlights how fragile NFL careers can be, especially for promising talents like Burks. For NFL fans, it underscores the importance of team depth and flexibility, which often determine a team’s success amid the physically demanding nature of the sport.
