Everton has had a reassuring transfer window so far, and could get even better in the coming weeks. David Moet is keen to bring in big reinforcements and could soon have a new addition at the center of the midfield.

Following the departure of Abdoulaye Doucure, whose contract expired at the end of June, a new midfielder will need to be added to the Moyes team. And in recent weeks, one of the targets that emerged is Douglas Lewis. He is strongly linked to his return to the Premier League following a disastrous 2024-25 season with Juventus.

Liverpool, West Ham, Leeds and others all have registered interest in Lewis, who left Aston Villa on a 50 million euro deal 12 months ago. However, Everton has received a major boost in the Brazilian International race.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (Sport Witness), Luiz is seeking a return to England, and he has chosen Everton as his preferred destination. Nottingham Forest and West Ham are both attracting attention as clubs, but are now chasing their Premier League rivals.

This is good news for Everton, but it has problems. They want to sign Lewis on a straight loan at a desired fee, which is thought to be close to the 50 million euros they paid last summer, while Juventus wants to include a purchase obligation.

This is a problem for Everton and Lewis, indicating that an acceptable solution will be sought in the coming weeks. If they could make a deal, it would be a statement of intent from Toffee, who is looking to make a big improvement over the previous season.
